Palmer is a small hamlet about 15 kilometres east of Gravelbourg, in the Rural Municipality of Sutton No. 103, just southeast of where Highways 43 and 627 meet. For many years it was an incorporated village, but on January 1, 2002, it was restructured as a hamlet under the RM of Sutton.
The best-known building in Palmer is St. Oliver's Catholic Church. Father Gravel held the first mass there on May 17, 1914, and the church closed its doors in 1970. It was later bought by Mr. Bowler from his grandfather's estate, and the building came to be known simply as "The Church."
In recent years residents have worked to make Palmer a venue for performing artists, which brings more people to the hamlet in the summer months. On May 17, 2014, a hundred years to the day after that first mass, they held a Centennial Celebration with a music festival, and the main stage was set up inside the church.
